A Covenant of Service

My commitment to the law, writing and other forms of engagement with society is rooted in a simple, foundational belief – that every individual deserves a life of dignity, safety, and purpose. This is more than a principle. It is a covenant shaped by the spiritual and moral landscapes of my life.

Though not religious in a conventional sense, my daily practice of spirituality is deeply informed by the charitable tenets of Islam—Zakat and Sadaqah—which teach that our possessions are a trust from God, and that sharing them is a purification of the self and a duty to the community. This foundational impulse to give was brought to life by the examples set by profound mentors such as my father, Professor Dr. Mohsin Wali (Padma Shri), who embodied selfless dedication to healing and knowledge and is able to be present for his patients beyond the call of duty, Mr. Percival Billimoria, a senior advocate whose fierce advocacy extends passionately to the voiceless in the animal kingdom; and Captain Ajay Anand, who consistently emphasizes the importance of being a just and fair human being, first and foremost.

Their guidance taught me that philanthropy is not an occasional act, but a sustained practice of empathy—a way of being in the world. It is this synthesis of spiritual calling and lived mentorship that fuels my personal practice of philanthropy, focused on empowering the vulnerable through four critical pillars.

The Foundation of Dignity

A healthy life is the first right. My work is channelled through my role as a Trustee of a Family Trust, with a primary focus on the active development of a multidisciplinary hospital in rural Uttar Pradesh. This project is a commitment to delivering comprehensive, compassionate healthcare to a community in great need. From strategic oversight to reviewing architectural plans, I am dedicated to ensuring this facility becomes a modern, accessible centre for healing, representing a tangible step toward health equity.

The Engine of Opportunity

We cannot break the cycle of poverty without unlocking potential. Alongside our health initiatives, my broader mission includes creating educational pathways and supporting under privileged individuals in their literacy dreams. I believe that empowering the mind is as crucial as healing the body, ensuring the next generation has the tools to build a better future.

Justice as a Shield

The law should protect the vulnerable, not empower the privileged. To make this a reality, I conduct pro bono legal aid camps in rural areas and my chambers provide free legal representation to individuals in need, ensuring that a lack of financial resources never means a denial of justice.

Founded by Aamir Khan Wali

I have initiated this endeavour through The National Legal Guild & Infrastructure Trust as a deliberate and strategic philanthropic response to a long-standing institutional deficit within India’s justice ecosystem—the absence of dignified, affordable accommodation and professional infrastructure for advocates who travel to the Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals and other Foras in service of the law.

Drawing inspiration from enduring institutional models such as the National Sports Club of India, I envision the creation of the National Legal Guild & Residence Network (NLGRN)—a pan-India, not-for-profit network of residential and professional hubs dedicated exclusively to the legal fraternity. The inaugural facility is proposed in close proximity to the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi, with subsequent centres planned across major legal capitals of the country.

Each NLGRN centre will be conceived as more than a place of stay. It will offer secure and dignified accommodation, state-of-the-art arbitration and conference facilities, well-curated legal libraries, and thoughtfully designed spaces for wellness, reflection, and collegial exchange. Access and governance will be anchored in a rigorous ethical framework—strictly merit-based allocation, a minimum 30% reservation for women legal professionals, and an uncompromising zero-tolerance approach toward corruption or patronage.

This initiative is not about constructing buildings alone. It is about strengthening justice delivery, restoring professional dignity, and nurturing a cohesive national legal community that transcends chambers, courts, and regions. With this vision, I seek a strategic partnership with the Government of India, particularly for the allocation of land, to help establish an institution that endures across generations—for the law, for the lawyer, and for the nation.

Forging Fortitude

Inner strength enables outer resilience. As an administrator and trainee instructor with the Civilian Marksmanship Academy of India situated in the then French town under British Raj, popularly named as Aligarh, I teach the discipline of marksmanship—not as weaponry, but as a practice in focus, responsibility, self-control, and profound respect. These virtues build confident, disciplined individuals capable of navigating life's challenges.

Sports

I am developing a one-acre, high-impact multi-sport complex in Faridabad designed to expand access, opportunity, and aspiration for young people in the region. The facility will host dedicated spaces for major sports—tennis, basketball, kabaddi, swimming, chess and badminton—along with essential amenities to ensure safety, dignity, and professional training standards. Conceived as an open, community-oriented environment, it aims to give children and youth a place to discover their abilities, build discipline, and grow through structured coaching and regular local tournaments. More than a recreational initiative, this project is a commitment to empowering the next generation by providing world-class sporting infrastructure at the grassroots level, nurturing talent, inclusivity, and a culture of healthy ambition in Faridabad.

Mental Health

Every evening, my day belongs to one purpose and one purpose alone, which is to sit with those carrying the invisible weight of stress, addiction, and emotional fatigue, and to help them find steady ground again. Whether I am in Delhi or traveling for work, I keep this window sacred—an unwavering commitment to guiding individuals who are fighting battles that often remain unseen.

This personal endeavour is not a program or a formal institution, rather it is a lifeline I have chosen to hold open. I work directly with people navigating the complexities of alcohol dependence, substance use, and the emotional turbulence that shadows these struggles. Through conversation, structured guidance, deep listening, and a non-judgmental space, I aim to help them reconnect with clarity, self-worth, and a sense of direction.

The goal is simple yet profound – to make sure no one has to walk through their darkest hours alone. Stress and addiction isolate, distort, and dismantle—but they do not have to define anyone’s future. My effort is to restore belief where it fades, discipline where it fractures, and hope where it feels lost.

In these daily sessions, we speak of resilience, rebuilding, spirituality, routine, and the courage required to begin again—one honest evening at a time. Over the years, this practice has become not just an act of service but a philosophy, which translates into healing that begins when we show up for one another with presence, patience, and truth.

My commitment is to offer time, attention, and guidance—consistently, quietly, and without interruption—so that anyone struggling with addiction or overwhelming stress has a place to breathe, to speak freely, and to reclaim control over their life.

If you or someone you know is fighting this silent battle, you are not alone. There is always time, always space, and always a path forward. Seeking help is not a weakness, in fact it is the greatest signs of strength a person can show in their character.
